Part of an integration program with opportunity of employment in Swedish language (supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations).
A joint education and integration program of Borgå folkakademi Akan, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Prakticum and Varuboden-Osla (S-Group).
To participate in the program, you must have status of temporary protection in Finland.
First part of the program:
The training program will begin with 4 months of intensive Swedish language studies, which will take place at the Arcada University of Applied Sciences premises at Jan-Magnus Janssonin aukio 1, Helsinki. Training provided by Borgå folkakademi, Akan.
- Duration of language education: 08 January 2024 – 26 April 2024
- Class schedule: from Mon to Fri 10.00 – 15.00 full-time in-class language education (25 teaching hours per week)
Second part of the program:
- Interview for internship/language practice
- 2 months of language internship in one of the stores or service points (supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations) of Varuboden-Osla (S-Group) in the cities: Loviisa, Porvoo, Sipoo, Kirkkonummi, Inkoo.
- Professional positions for internship: shop assistants of Prisma and S-Market supermarkets, employees of ABC gas service stations, waiters and cooks.
At the end of the language practice, the potential employer (Varuboden, S-Group) decides on the possibility of subsequent employment. All program participants will receive the opportunity for career consultations at the Arcada Career Centre.
The program is free for participants. Participants are selected on a competitive basis.
In order to participate in the program, you need:
- Have status of temporary protection
- At the start of the program, do not be enrolled in another integration program of the Employment Offices (integration language courses from TE-toimisto)
- Preferably speak English at a communication level (intermediate level).
- Experience and desire to work in the service sector is a plus.
