The course is free of charge!
Among the donations to Goodwill, there are items and textiles that are not in a sellable condition. These defective goods are used as materials in the upcycling course and are transformed into new products – clothing items are given new cuts and combinations, objects are repainted using different techniques, and household items are repurposed for new creative ideas, etc.

No prior knowledge is required – the instructor will assist you, together we often find the best solutions!
Finally, the modified and recreated items are donated back to Goodwill Porvoo for sale. Participants also have the option to purchase their own creations for a small symbolic fee if they wish.
Borgå folkakademi has no share in the sales; all proceeds go directly to Goodwill.
The purpose of the course is to encourage creativity, reduce waste, and extend the lifespan of already produced products.
How does Goodwill work?
When you donate items to Goodwill or shop at Goodwill’s recycling stores, you create opportunities for local job seekers to work and develop their skills. The items you donate are sold in the Goodwill store, and the revenue from sold goods is used to sustain and develop local employment activities and various training and education programs.
